Stood Down on Armistice Day

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

With freedom and representation to save,

Many who cared paid them forward from their graves;

To choose their own leaders, to vote, to be heard

Is worth all there is, several millions averred.

They stood up for right and then, done with the fight,

They stood down on Armistice Day.

The count of the years is a hundred and one,

A nation again sees democracy gone;

To choose their own leaders, to vote, to be heard,

Is worth all there is, seventeen millions averred.

Some stood up for right and then, better to fight,

They stood down on Armistice Day.
